Who Determines the Weight of Your Load?

So who determines the weight of your load, the heaviness of the burdens you carry?  Who determines the gravity of the tragety and the perspective that will ease the pain?

I once saw a story about a woman who lost her 2 year old son to cancer, and she wrote a song called… “Always Blessings, Never Sorrow.”  During the interview she explained that she was grateful for having been blessed with the soul of her son for the two years he was with her, and that was what she was choosing to focus on.

I know a woman who had breast cancer twice and she said it was the best thing that ever happened to her.  In hindsight, she saw the value that experience brought to her life, and for that she was grateful.

On the flip side, I know people who have their health, are financially well off, are surrounded by family, and appear to have all of their basic needs met… who spend their days magnifying the tiniest inconveniences to the level that you would think their world was coming to an end…

So the beauty of this discovery is that we are in the drivers seat… we get to determine the weight and value of our experience… this applies to the good, the bad, and the ugly…

Life is as fair or unfair, beautiful or ugly, satisfying or disappointing as we believe it to be.  Where we choose to place our attention will determine the weight of our load…

Go lightly my friends…
